    By analyzing existing data, this study highlights the potential for GHB abuse and underscores the need for further research to
    understand its impact on human health.

    Introduction

    Gamma-Butyrolactone (GHB), a metabolite of gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA), is known for its effects on the
    central nervous system. While it is often used legally as a sleep
    aid, its misuse as a performance-enhancing drug has raised concerns
    among athletes and policymakers. This article explores GHB’s
    pharmacological properties, its mechanisms of action, and the toxicological implications associated with
    its abuse.

    Materials and Methods

    The study reviewed data from multiple sources, including
    experimental studies on GHB’s pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
    Data were extracted from peer-reviewed articles, clinical trials, and regulatory reports to assess GHB’s toxicity and performance-enhancing effects.
    Statistical analyses were conducted where applicable, focusing on correlations
